Sabrina Movie Poster.jpg

Today when people here the name Audrey Hepburn they immediately think about the movie Breakfest At Tiffany's or Funny Face. But in 1954 if you heard the name Audrey Hepburn you thought of the movie she starred in known as Sabrina.

Sixty-one years ago Billy Wilder directed and wrote the movie Sabrina. The character Sabrinawas played by Hepburn showed the world that she can be the lead actress next to, two leading men known as Humphrey Bogart and William Holden. This movie turned her into a star in Hollywood and a fashionista.

The character Sabrina is a young daughter of a chauffer, living above the garage of the Larabee Estate. As long as Sabrina can remenber she has been in love with David Larabee(Holden), the son of the wealthy family her father works for. To get over her infactuation with David, she moves to Paris, France and enrolls in cooking school. After moving back to Long Island, New York David sudenly finds Sabrina attractive and is willing to risk the family business to be with her. But, like any romantic-comedy things are never as easy as it seems.

This film deals with a woman who is stuck between two worlds and two loves. In one world she is part of the working class. Another world, she is a dreamer set for a life bigger than the one she grew up in. This world also has a lot of money something that she's been around her entire life but, never had it herself. Which world does Sabrina choose you may ask?

Will she run away with the man she has loved since childhood? Or will she fall for a man who she unexpectedly develops feelings for?

These questions can be hard for any young woman to answer espically if she doesn't want to her the men in her life.

For all my fashion forward Filmist, if you're looking for a film filled with ball gowns, New York Skyscrappers, and luxury automobiles then Sabrina is the movie for you. This film will show you how women and men use to dress in the 1950's. You won't see baggy pants, crop tops or leggings but, you will see hats and tuxedos. The viewer will be brought back in time when men opened the door for women and ladies were either a housewife or secretary.

So sit back and enjoy the ride back to 1954.
