Glitz… Glamour… Sashes… and a Sparking Crown. When you here this combination you immediately think of the world of pageants. But who doesn’t like that combination right?

Well, for some people pageants are archaic and sexists. While, others feel that pageants give women a platform to talk about the issues that mean the most to them.

The comedy film, Miss Congeniality is a funny take on the pageant world we either love or love to hate. This movie stars Oscar winner for Best Actress in the drama film, The Blind Side is Sandra Bullock. Bullock plays FBI Agent Gracie Hart who goes undercover at the Miss United States Pageants. As a contestant representing New Jersey, Hart tries to uncover who have been sending death threats to the pageant. In the middle of big hair (the pageant takes place in San Antonio, Texas), flaming batons, and evening gowns Hart learns new things about herself.

Does she learn that there is more to people than what you see on the surface? Does she realize that it is ok to develop and want friendships? Or is this undercover mission just a job?

Well, all these questions and more are answered in this laugh out loud comedy film.

In this movie, I believe that Bullock performs her best comedic performance of her career. She isn’t afraid to fall on her face countless times whether she is in high-heels or onstage in a costume. Bullock has no problem being covered in paint and stuffing her face with pizza. She can even fight like her life depends on it. These characteristics and her awesome comedic timing have made this a classic film. She has the ability to make you laugh when it's needed which makes the viewer not want to stop watching this film. I consider Bullock one of the funniest movie actresses in Hollywood.

What also makes this movie work is the host of supporting actors and actresses who help make this film filled with one lineers. Legendary actors like Michael Caine and William Shatner have such amazing comedic timing in this film. There characters are funny, loving, and a bit outrageous but, I love what they bring to the big screen.

Miss Congeniality is a girls weekend type of movie. So grab your girls, order your pizza and pop your popcorn and enjoy watching Miss Congeniality.

P.S. I do like the sequel Miss Congeniality: Armed and Fabulous but, the first film is a classic.
