The film The First Wives Club is the ultimate girl’s night in movie; filled with laughter, girl talk, and planning a scheme to get back at your cheating husband. The all-star cast featuring Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn, and Diane Keaton tell a story of three former college friends who reconnect at their friends funeral; and all find themselves dealing with a divorce when their husbands leave them for a younger woman. After realizing that there was no way they would get back together with their husbands the ladies set out to make their husbands lives a living hell. In the process of taking their husband’s money, businesses, and girlfriends from them they find self-confidence within and realize that hurting their ex-husbands is only a temporary happiness. At the end of the movie the woman decided to create a shelter to help woman who are dealing with domestic abuse.

The First Wives Club is one of my favorite movies and get’s five stars. It has everything that makes a comedy film good. The main characters make fun of each other, their husbands, and the cruel world they live in, New York City. The woman have a fallen out, but realize that there are some friendships that are worth saving; there’s was one of them. Keaton was the leader of the pact and was the glue that held the woman together. The quality of acting was spectacular. Keaton, Hawn, and Midler, all veteran actresses brought their A-game to this movie and showed that woman can command a screen together.

Director Hugh Wilson put together a good movie that dealt with each character’s personal lives and struggles which I thought was good because it should the ups and downs a person dealing with a divorce goes through. Also, I thought the supporting actors and actresses in this movie were good as well. An example of a good supporting actress in this movie was Maggie Smith. Smith played a third-time divorce woman who was the queen of New York City society. She provided a sense of comedy of relief to the movie. For the type of movie this is a comedy was the best genre to make it. When you’re dealing with a movie where the characters are going through serious life changes like a divorce, making the movie a comedy is the best choice. The characters can use jokes and laughter to let out their pain in frustration.

I think this film should be watched by woman and men because it’s full of laughter and love.
